Item Description
Edric, Spymaster of Trest doesn't win fights himself; he makes everyone else's fights pay you. He's a three-mana green and blue legendary Elf Rogue, just a 2/2, but whenever any creature deals combat damage to one of your opponents, that creature's controller may draw a card. Swing with a handful of small evasive creatures and Edric turns every hit into a fresh card.
The wording is where the spymaster earns his title. Because the trigger cares about damage to your opponents, players who attack each other also draw, while anyone who attacks you gets nothing. Edric quietly steers the table's aggression away from you, a political edge that has made him a long-running favorite among Simic commanders. Edric decks typically pack cheap fliers, unblockable creatures and tempo spells, refilling their hand every turn while bouncing or countering whatever slows them down.
This is the Commander 2016 printing, collector number 195, illustrated by Volkan Baǵa, in non-foil. His flavor text sums him up nicely: an informant who won't reveal his sources but will happily tell you the price on your head is high.
