Magic: The Gathering single: Edgin, Larcenous Lutenist. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Edgin is the lute-playing bard who leads a band of misfits in the 2023 film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and his Magic card plays like a con artist's plan: set everything up quietly, then get the table fighting itself. He's a three-mana blue and red legendary Human Bard, a 3/3 with two abilities that work beautifully together.
First, every nonland card in your hand without foretell gains foretell, with a foretell cost equal to its mana cost reduced by two. During your turn you can pay two to exile a card face down, then cast it on a later turn for the reduced cost, spreading your mana across turns so you can unload several spells at once. Second, whenever you cast your second spell each turn, you goad target creature an opponent controls, forcing it to attack someone other than you. Pairs of spells keep opponents' best creatures busy attacking each other while you line up your next move, which makes him a mischievous Izzet commander for spellslinger and goad decks.
This card comes from the Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves drop, collector number 1242, illustrated by Wenfei Ye, in foil. It is printed with the movie character's name, Edgin, Larcenous Lutenist, while its Oracle name in Magic's rules database is Bohn, Beguiling Balladeer.
