Item Description
Before Innistrad had vampire lords, bloodlines or a single fanged aristocrat, it had Edgar Markov. The grandfather of Sorin Markov and the first of Innistrad's vampires, Edgar became a card in Commander 2017 as the face of its Vampire deck, and he has led bloodthirsty Mardu armies ever since.
His secret is eminence. Whenever you cast another Vampire spell, if Edgar is on the battlefield or still waiting in the command zone, you create a 1/1 black Vampire token. Your army starts growing from your very first Vampire, long before you spend six mana on Edgar himself. Once he arrives, he is a 4/4 with first strike and haste, and every time he attacks he puts a +1/+1 counter on each Vampire you control, turning a crowd of tokens into a real threat in one swing.
This is the Judge Promo printing, in foil, from the line of promotional cards Wizards of the Coast distributes to Magic's judges. It's a distinctive version of a commander that Vampire players build entire decks around, and a handsome way to put Edgar at the head of the table.
