Item Description

For the first time in a decade, Augusta National was back in a video game. EA Sports PGA Tour, the publisher's first golf game since Rory McIlroy PGA Tour in 2015, brought the Masters back for the first time since Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, and that return is why the physical release carries the "Road to the Masters" tagline. Built for the PlayStation 5 generation, it arrived in April 2023 with all four men's majors, the Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open and The Open, as part of its pitch.

Its swing system, Pure Strike, breaks every shot into the parts real golfers think about, so contact, power and shape all matter, and ShotLink and TrackMan data feed in the statistics and ball physics that drive how shots behave on each course. Around 30 courses were available at release, and the roster of playable pros includes stars such as Nelly Korda and Lexi Thompson alongside the men's tour. You can build your own golfer and chase a pro career, or dip into challenges that recreate memorable moments and test specific shots.

Reviews were solidly positive with some reservations, praising the range of shots and the courses while flagging inconsistent putting, but nothing else on PS5 puts you on the 12th at Augusta with Amen Corner's swirling winds. For golf fans who want a modern sim with the sport's biggest stages licensed in, this is the game that brought EA's long golf tradition back to life.
