Item Description
The NFL Scouting Combine is where football careers can turn on a few seconds of sprinting, jumping and lifting, and EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp brings a taste of that pressure into the living room. Built by EA Canada as part of the EA Sports Active fitness line, it was developed in collaboration with NFL strength and conditioning coaches and features real NFL players leading football-flavored drills and workouts.
The centerpiece is the NFL Combine 60 Day Challenge, a structured program that pushes you through progressively tougher sessions on the way to your own combine-style test. The game is designed around a heart rate monitor and wireless motion tracking that EA called Total Body Tracking, measuring effort as well as movement, so a workout feels closer to a real training session than a casual round of waggling. Drills can become head-to-head contests with friends and family, the Wii Balance Board is supported, and the game was built to connect to the EA Sports Active online hub for sharing results, a service from the console's online era.
Training Camp followed EA Sports Active and its sequel as the line's football-branded spinoff, and it captures a specific moment when publishers were betting that fitness and sports licenses could share the same disc. For football fans who want their cardio wrapped in NFL branding, or collectors of Wii-era fitness titles, it is a distinctive entry from the height of the exercise-game craze.
