Night falls over Villedor, and the rules of the city change. During the day, Aiden Caldwell can sprint across rooftops and pick fights in the streets; after dark, the infected Volatiles take to the hunt, chases erupt across the skyline and every second outside a UV-lit safe zone ticks down Aiden's fragile immunity. Dying Light 2: Stay Human is Techland's ambitious sequel to its 2015 parkour-zombie hit, and it builds an entire city around that thrilling day and night tension.

Aiden is a Pilgrim, one of the wanderers who travel between the last settlements of a collapsed world, and he arrives in Villedor searching for his long-lost sister Mia. The city is split between the Survivors, scrappy citizens trying to rebuild, and the Peacekeepers, a militarized faction enforcing order at any cost. As you restore water towers, windmills and other facilities, you choose which faction takes control, and the city reshapes itself in response, from zip lines and air vents that help you run to traps and weapons that help you fight. Characters like the smooth-talking Hakon, the fierce Lawan (voiced by Rosario Dawson) and the menacing Waltz pull the story in different directions, and your decisions change who lives and who you can trust.

Movement is the star. Aiden's free-running is fluid and precise, and as the game opens up he gains a paraglider for riding rising air currents and a grappling hook for swinging between towers. First-person melee combat rewards dodges, vaults and parries, and night runs into Dark Hollows reward the brave with Inhibitors that permanently boost health and stamina. The game was also built for up to four-player co-op, bringing friends along into each other's version of the city.

Where the first Dying Light was a tight survival story in the slums of Harran, the sequel is a sprawling, choice-driven city built vertically for parkour, with skyscrapers and rooftop gardens to conquer. It is a game about decisions and momentum in equal measure, and few open worlds make simply getting from one rooftop to the next feel this exciting.
