Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Drown in the Loch is the rare card that gets better the longer a game goes on. For one blue and one black mana, this instant lets you choose: counter target spell, or destroy target creature, as long as its mana value is no greater than the number of cards in its controller's graveyard. Early on it handles cheap threats; by midgame, with graveyards filling up, it answers almost anything.
That flexibility makes it a favorite in Dimir decks. Pair it with mill effects and you can effectively switch it on yourself, since it checks the opponent's graveyard rather than yours. In Commander, where graveyards swell quickly and every player is a possible target, it is a two-mana answer that is rarely dead in hand.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 270, a borderless showcase version illustrated by Anato Finnstark, in non-foil. Finnstark's dramatic, painterly art fills the whole card, giving a Throne of Eldraine favorite a fresh, full-bleed look.
