Item Description
Fossil's Dragonite captured what fans already loved about the character: not a snarling monster but a gentle giant, the round, friendly-faced final form of the Dratini line. Kagemaru Himeno's illustration leans into that warmth, and the card itself plays with a surprising bit of cleverness.
It's a 100 HP Colorless Stage 2 that evolves from Dragonair. Its Pokémon Power, Step In, lets you swap Dragonite from your Bench into the Active spot once during your turn before you attack, a free retreat in reverse that let players bring it in exactly when they needed it. Slam, for four Colorless Energy, flips two coins for 40 damage per heads, and a Retreat Cost of one plus Fighting resistance round it out.
Fossil arrived in 1999 as the third English expansion, built around Kanto's prehistoric Pokémon and home to the legendary bird trio, and its Dragonite completed the Dratini evolution line that Base Set began. This is the non-holo rare version, card 19/62, featuring the same Himeno artwork as the set's holo Dragonite at #4/62.
