A hole has been torn in the sky over Thedas, demons are spilling out of glowing rifts, and the only person who can seal them is the lone survivor of a catastrophic explosion, waking up with a strange mark burning in their palm. That is how Dragon Age: Inquisition begins, and from there BioWare's third Dragon Age hands you more than a sword. It hands you an organization. As the Inquisitor, you grow a handful of believers into a power that nobles, mages, templars and the Chantry itself have to reckon with.
Character creation offers four races (human, elf, dwarf and Qunari) and three classes, each opening into specializations as the story advances. The world is built from large, open regions like the Hinterlands, the Storm Coast, the Exalted Plains and the Hissing Wastes, each with its own camps, rifts, side stories and dragons to hunt. Combat plays as real-time action, or you can pull back into a tactical camera that freezes the fight so you can position your party and queue abilities in the spirit of Origins. Back at your fortress of Skyhold, the War Table lets advisors Cullen, Leliana and Josephine run operations that tick along in real time while you are out adventuring.
The companions are why people replay it. Cassandra, Varric, Solas, Iron Bull, Sera, Vivienne, Blackwall, Cole and Dorian all carry their own loyalties, grudges and personal quests, and the banter that drifts between them on the road is some of BioWare's sharpest writing. Romances, political alliances and the judgments you pass from the Inquisitor's throne ripple outward, and the masked ball at the Orlesian Winter Palace, where a whispered rumor can be deadlier than a blade, is a highlight of the entire series.
Inquisition won Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2014 and became the most expansive Dragon Age yet, a fantasy RPG built for players who want to lose themselves in one world for a very long time. It is also the chapter that lays the groundwork for the story Dragon Age: The Veilguard picked up a decade later, which makes it the entry to play before following the series any further, and a big, generous adventure on PS4 in its own right.

About the game
Dragon Age: Inquisition is a role-playing game and the third main game in the Dragon Age series. It is set in the Thedas continent, the same fantasy world as the two previous games. It consist of two large countries: Ferelden (from Dragon Age: Origins) and Orlais, as well as the land inbetween. True to the spirit of the series the character can be customized for appearance, sex, class and race. The available races are dwarf, elf, human, and Qunari and the classes are mage, rogue, and warrior with three specializations each. To grow the Inquisition experience needs to be earned by completing quests, which allows the player to further define allegiances and pursue romances. A custom party can be defined and each member benefits from experience as it opens up access to better weapons and more abilities. Power points open up new areas and Inquisition points define the influence over the region; each new level provides a perk that benefits the entire Inquisition.
