Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Dovin, Hand of Control is a planeswalker built to make your opponents' lives a little harder every single turn. For three mana (two generic plus a hybrid white-or-blue) he arrives with 5 loyalty and a static tax: artifact, instant and sorcery spells your opponents cast cost one more. His only loyalty ability, a minus one, prevents all damage dealt to and dealt by one of an opponent's permanents until your next turn, which neatly benches their biggest attacker or blocker for a round.
That combination fits right into Azorius control, stax-leaning Commander decks and superfriends builds that want cheap walkers soaking up attention. Spell-heavy opponents feel the tax immediately, and five loyalty means Dovin can shut down several threats before he runs out.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 529, illustrated by Kieran Yanner, in foil. It is one of the Secret Lair stained-glass planeswalker bonus cards, which reimagine War of the Spark walkers as luminous stained-glass windows. The art style turns a humble uncommon planeswalker into a striking collector piece.
