Item Description

Standing still in Doom Eternal is a mistake you only make once. id Software's sequel to the 2016 reboot turns every fight into a high-speed puzzle of resources: the chainsaw refills your ammo, the Flame Belch makes burning demons drop armor, glory kills shower you with health, and the Blood Punch smashes through shields. Run dry on any of them and the solution is always the same, which is to charge forward and take what you need from the nearest monster. It is relentless, exhausting and wildly satisfying once it clicks.

The Slayer has more tools than ever. A dash lets him dart across arenas and between platforms, the super shotgun's Meat Hook yanks him straight into a demon's face, and weapons like the Ballista and the Crucible blade sit alongside returning favorites such as the BFG 9000. Enemies have destructible weak points, so you can blow the cannons off a Mancubus or the turret off an Arachnotron, and the Marauder, a shielded rival who punishes button-mashing, became one of the most talked-about enemies of its generation.

The story takes the Slayer from a demon-overrun Earth to the ancient Sentinel world of Argent D'Nur and the gleaming heavens of the Maykrs, with the Khan Maykr and the Icon of Sin waiting at the end. Between missions you return to the Fortress of Doom, an orbiting hub where Praetor Suit upgrades, Sentinel Batteries, unlockable cheat codes and secret encounters reward exploration. Slayer Gates and collectibles give each level a reason to revisit. Mick Gordon's thundering industrial metal soundtrack, including “The Only Thing They Fear Is You,” is the perfect engine for it all, and Battlemode, a two-demons-versus-one-Slayer online mode, was built in as well.

Where Doom (2016) reintroduced the series, Eternal is id at its most ambitious: denser arenas, bigger set pieces and a combat loop that demands constant decision-making. On PlayStation 4 it is the purest dose of modern Doom and the sequel that pushed the reboot's formula about as far as it could go.

About the game

Doom Eternal is a first-person shooter developed by id Software and the sequel to Doom (2016). Players control the Doom Slayer as he fights to end a demonic invasion of Earth. Combat is built around aggressive resource management, where health, armor, and ammo are gained by executing, igniting, or chainsawing enemies. The game introduces platforming segments, destructible enemy weak points, an expanded weapon arsenal, and a multiplayer mode called Battlemode, where one player-controlled Slayer fights two player-controlled demons.
