Magic: The Gathering single: Dockside Chef. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
One black mana buys you a 1/2 that never lets a sacrifice go to waste. Dockside Chef's ability costs {1}{B} plus sacrificing an artifact or creature, and it draws you a card. That makes it a flexible sacrifice outlet for any deck that produces fodder: spent Treasure, Clue and Food tokens, chump-blocking tokens, or a creature that is about to be exiled or stolen anyway.
Aristocrats decks love this kind of card. Every sacrifice can trigger death payoffs, and the Chef converts the bodies into fresh cards so you never run out of gas. Because the ability works at instant speed, you can respond to removal or a theft effect by cashing the target in for a draw, which leaves your opponent's spell with nothing to hit. It is a small creature that quietly runs the engine in decks built around artifacts, tokens and the graveyard.
This is the rainbow foil version from the Secret Lair drop Featuring: Phoebe Wahl, collector number 1629★, a borderless card illustrated by Phoebe Wahl. The rainbow foil gives the art a shifting, prismatic shimmer that makes this humble one-drop a standout in a binder or a sacrifice deck.
