Item Description
Divergent Transformations is a gamble you get to aim. It exiles two target creatures, then each creature's controller reveals cards from the top of their library until they hit a creature card, puts that creature onto the battlefield and shuffles the rest away. Point one half at an opponent's scariest threat and the other at your own token or spent utility creature, and you swap something small for whatever your deck turns up while they roll the dice on theirs.
The real fun is in rigging the odds. In a deck packed with noncreature spells and only a handful of enormous creatures, your reveal almost always lands on one of the giants, and turning a 1/1 into the biggest monster in your library at instant speed is a wonderful moment at any table. Undaunted makes the plan affordable: the spell costs one less for each opponent, so in a four-player game the printed seven-mana cost drops to four.
This is the Commander 2016 printing, collector number 17, illustrated by Kev Walker, in non-foil. It debuted in that year's Commander product and was designed for multiplayer, where both the discount and the chaos are at their biggest, making it a natural pick for red decks that enjoy a little controlled mayhem.
