Item Description
Paying life instead of mana is one of Magic's most tempting bargains, and Dismember is its cleanest expression. Each of its two Phyrexian black symbols can be paid with black mana or 2 life, so this instant can cost three mana, one mana and 4 life, or anything in between, and it gives target creature -5/-5 until end of turn.
That shrink effect slips past indestructible and regeneration, handles nearly every early-game threat, and still takes down a surprising number of big Commander creatures. Because you can cast it with a single mana in a pinch, it lets black decks spend their turn developing the board and still keep removal ready. It has been a fixture of removal suites ever since New Phyrexia introduced Phyrexian mana in 2011.
This is a Secret Lair Drop printing of Dismember, offered in foil, giving a hard-working removal spell a special-edition look for the deck or the binder.
