Item Description
Dig Through Time looks expensive and almost never is. Printed at eight mana, it has delve, so every card you exile from your graveyard while casting it pays for one generic mana. With a healthy graveyard, that's two blue mana for an instant that looks at the top seven cards of your library and puts the best two into your hand.
Card selection at that depth feels very different from a simple draw spell. You aren't hoping for good cards; you're choosing them, whether that means the combo piece, the counterspell for next turn or the land you're missing, all at the end of an opponent's turn, with the rest going to the bottom in any order you like. It arrived in Khans of Tarkir and quickly became one of the most talked-about delve cards, and in Commander it rewards blue decks that fill the graveyard with cantrips and fetch lands.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 97, illustrated by Steve Prescott, in non-foil. Its flavor text gives the card a playful twist: "No matter how deep the treasure is buried, Hunter can always sniff it out."
