Item Description

A carnival in the demon realm, surrounded by sadistic vampires, is about the most Diabolik Lovers setting imaginable. Vandead Carnival is Rejet's fandisc for Diabolik Lovers More,Blood, released for PS Vita in Japan in 2014, and it takes Yui Komori out of the shadowed mansions of the first two games and into a festival with the men she has become entangled with: the six Sakamaki brothers, Shu, Reiji, Ayato, Kanato, Laito and Subaru, and the four Mukami brothers, Ruki, Kou, Yuma and Azusa, who joined the story in More,Blood.

Fandiscs are a long-standing tradition in Japanese otome games, companion releases made for players who have finished the main story and want more time with its cast. That is exactly the appeal here. The carnival setting lets the series play with lantern-lit spectacle and gothic glamour, and the brothers show softer, sweeter sides than the frightening figures they cut in the earlier games, without ever losing the possessive edge the series is known for.

Much of Diabolik Lovers' pull comes from its voice cast, and this release brings back the performers fans follow, among them Shinnosuke Tachibana as Ayato, Yuki Kaji as Kanato, Kosuke Toriumi as Shu and Takahiro Sakurai as Ruki. Their delivery carries the series' trademark mix of menace and intimacy, and it is a big reason the franchise grew from drama CDs and games into two anime seasons.

This is the Japanese release, best enjoyed after Haunted Dark Bridal and More,Blood, and for a Vita otome collection it fills the slot between the second main game and Dark Fate. It is a dark, stylish romance for players who already know the brothers well and want to see them at a festival rather than a feeding.
