Item Description
Shadow the Hedgehog crashing a black sacrifice spell is a crossover that makes a strange kind of sense. Deadly Dispute is all about turning a loss into speed: for two mana and the sacrifice of an artifact or creature, you draw two cards and make a Treasure token, which pays back part of the cost right away.
That trade is why the card shows up in so many black decks. Feed it a token, a Food or Clue, or a creature that is about to be exiled or destroyed anyway, and you come out ahead on cards. Aristocrats builds get extra mileage because every sacrifice triggers Blood Artist-style drain effects, and the Treasure is one more artifact to sacrifice later. Because it is an instant, you can hold it up through an opponent's turn and let removal or combat tell you exactly when to cash in.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 2091, a borderless foil illustrated by Evan Stanley. It comes from a Sonic the Hedgehog crossover, and its flavor line goes to Shadow himself proclaiming that he is the Ultimate Lifeform, a fitting boast for a card built on getting something back from every sacrifice.
