Item Description

Dead or Alive has always had two personalities: the lightning-quick 3D fighter, and the sun-soaked vacation spin-off where the brawling takes a back seat to beach volleyball, resort games and island downtime. Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet is the Nintendo Switch take on that second personality. Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo released it in 2019 as an updated edition of 2016's Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, and because this entry was never released in the West, the Asian English version is how English-speaking players experience it on Switch.

The fighters trade their tournaments for a tropical holiday. Between rounds of two-on-two beach volleyball and the series' wildly silly butt battles, the cast spends its days relaxing, shopping and building friendships, collecting outfits and accessories along the way. Owner Mode puts you in charge of the island, spending your vacation with a chosen guest and slowly earning her trust.

Scarlet's update adds Misaki and returning favorite Leifang to the island, alongside familiar faces such as Kasumi, Marie Rose and Honoka. The tone is bright, playful and knowingly over-the-top, much closer to a breezy resort sim than to anything in the mainline fighting games.

For Switch collectors, Scarlet is among the system's more unusual imports: an English-language Asian release of a series spin-off that never reached Western store shelves. It is a colorful, conversation-starting oddity, and a fun piece of Dead or Alive history for players who have followed this cast from the fighting ring to the beach.
