Item Description

Daryl Dixon brings his crossbow to Magic with one of the most flavorful legendary creatures in the Walking Dead Secret Lair. At the beginning of your upkeep, a target opponent creates three 2/2 black Zombie Walker tokens. Then Daryl goes hunting: he can tap to deal 2 damage to target creature, and whenever a Zombie an opponent controls dies, you draw a card. You hand your enemies a horde, then pick it apart one Walker at a time for card advantage.

As a 4/4 red-green legendary Human Archer for four mana, Daryl can lead a Commander deck that loves living on the edge. Board wipes, damage-based removal, and anything that punishes big boards turn those gifted Walkers into a steady stream of cards for you, while your opponents squabble over the zombies you gave them.

The Walking Dead drop, released in October 2020, was the first Secret Lair to bring a non-Magic franchise into the game, opening the door for the Universes Beyond crossovers that followed. Its cards were later given in-universe equivalents, and Daryl's is Hansk, Slayer Zealot. This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 144, a mythic foil illustrated by Romana Kendelic, showing Daryl himself.
