Magic: The Gathering single: Cursed Mirror (Rainbow Foil). Our grade: Lightly Played. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.

Item Description

Cursed Mirror starts as a mana rock and makes its entrance as somebody else. It taps for red mana, and as it enters, you can have it become a copy of any creature on the battlefield until end of turn, with haste.

That one-turn impression can be brutal. Copy the biggest attacker on the table and swing immediately, or copy a creature with an enters-the-battlefield ability, since the Mirror enters as that creature and gets the trigger. Once the turn ends it reverts to a three-mana artifact that keeps your red deck ahead on mana, so it never feels wasted. That mix of early ramp and late-game surprise is why it shows up in so many red Commander decks.

This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 2308, in rainbow foil, from The Ember Island Players drop, illustrated by Shiren. The drop takes its name from the theater troupe of Avatar: The Last Airbender, a clever home for a card whose whole job is playing someone else for a turn.
