Prismari students do not cast spells quietly. Prismari Performance, the blue-red Commander 2021 deck built for Strixhaven: School of Mages, turns every instant and sorcery into a show, and its commander makes sure the biggest spells get the loudest applause.

Zaffai, Thunder Conductor runs on magecraft: whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery, you scry 1, a spell with mana value 5 or greater adds a 4/4 Elemental to the stage, and a spell with mana value 10 or greater sends 10 damage at an opponent chosen at random. That shapes the deck into a ramp-and-fireworks plan, building mana until you can slam the giant spells that set off every part of Zaffai at once. Veyran, Voice of Duality is the alternate commander for players who would rather make their magecraft triggers fire twice.

The deck also introduced a batch of new cards built around the Prismari college's love of spectacle, including Elementalist's Palette, Creative Technique, Fiery Encore, Muse Vortex, Rionya, Fire Dancer and Octavia, Living Thesis. That makes it a strong Izzet starting point right out of the box and a rewarding shell to tune toward more copy effects and bigger spells over time. Few precons capture a college's personality this clearly: it is loud, swingy and a blast in a four-player pod.
