Item Description

For a generation of kids, Code Lyoko was the show you raced home to watch: four boarding-school friends and a girl they rescued from inside a supercomputer, slipping away from classes at Kadic Academy to battle X.A.N.A., a malevolent program hidden in an abandoned factory. Quest for Infinity is the game that finally let viewers step into the scanners themselves. Developed by Neko Entertainment and published by The Game Factory, it continues the series' story with an original adventure rather than retelling old episodes.

Most of the action happens on Lyoko, moving through sectors of forest, desert and ice as you switch between the Lyoko Warriors to get past obstacles and X.A.N.A.'s monsters. Each hero brings the abilities fans remember from the show, from Ulrich's sword work to Yumi's fans and Odd's laser arrows, and attacks are tied to Wii Remote motion so every swing and throw has a physical edge. Upgrades and new powers unlock as you progress, giving the platforming a light layer of RPG growth.

It is a licensed game through and through, made for the show's audience more than for genre veterans, and reviews at the time were mixed. For fans, though, the pull is easy to understand: the 3D sectors, the familiar cast and the back-and-forth between ordinary school life and digital heroics all come straight from the cartoon, rendered as places you can actually explore.

Code Lyoko games make up a small corner of the Wii library, and this is the one that carries the Lyoko Warriors' story forward on Nintendo's console. If you grew up with the show, it is the closest you can get to taking a turn at the controls of the factory's supercomputer.
