Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Coat of Arms turns a crowd into an army. This five-mana artifact gives each creature +1/+1 for every other creature on the battlefield that shares at least one creature type with it, so a board of ten Elves means each one gets +9/+9. The more focused your deck, the more absurd the numbers get.
Since its debut in Tempest it has been a cornerstone of typal decks, and it is right at home in Commander tribes like Elves, Goblins, Zombies and Slivers. The catch is that it is symmetrical and counts every creature on the battlefield, opponents' included, so it rewards the player whose board shares the most types. Playing it at the right moment, when your army is wide and theirs is scattered, is part of the fun.
This is the Duel Decks: Mind vs. Might printing, collector number 58, illustrated by Scott M. Fischer, in non-foil. Its flavor text calls it "A banner for bonds of blood or belief," a neat summary of a card that turns shared identity into raw power.
