Item Description
Anyone who has finished Final Fantasy VII knows Cloud's SOLDIER past comes with an asterisk. There is nothing exaggerated about this card, though. Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER is a five-mana red, green and white legendary Human Soldier Mercenary, a 4/4 with haste who shows up ready to swing.
When Cloud enters, you can attach an Equipment you already control to him, so your best weapon is in his hands the turn he lands. Every time he attacks, you draw a card for each equipped attacking creature you control, and if Cloud's power is 7 or greater, you also create two Treasure tokens. Gear that adds three power gets him there on its own.
That loop makes him a natural commander for Naya Equipment decks: suit up the team, attack, refill your hand, and use the Treasure to pay for the next round of equip costs. It is a satisfying way to bring the Buster Sword fantasy to the Commander table.
This is the Final Fantasy Commander extended-art printing, collector number 168, a non-foil mythic illustrated by Justyna Dura, with the artwork extended past the usual frame for a wider, more cinematic look.
