Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Obsidian Flames gave Charizard a twist few saw coming: a Darkness-type Tera Charizard ex. On the table it plays like a furnace. When you evolve into it from your hand, Infernal Reign searches your deck for up to three Basic Fire Energy and attaches them to your Pokémon in any way you like, which can power up the whole board in a single move. Burning Darkness then costs only two Fire Energy for 180 damage, plus 30 more for each Prize card your opponent has taken, so this 330 HP Stage 2 hits harder the further behind you fall.
The Special Illustration Rare takes it somewhere else entirely. This is the Obsidian Flames printing, collector number 223/197, illustrated by AKIRA EGAWA, in holofoil, a full-art Special Illustration Rare numbered beyond the set's main list. Special Illustration Rares are the showpiece art cards of the Scarlet & Violet era, and putting Charizard in that slot gave Obsidian Flames its natural headliner.
It is a card that works on both sides of the hobby. Players know Infernal Reign as the engine behind a whole generation of Charizard ex decks, and collectors know this version as the Charizard to chase from the set, a bold centerpiece for a Scarlet & Violet binder or a Charizard collection built across every era.
