Magic: The Gathering single: Chaos Theory - Chaos Warp. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Dr. Ian Malcolm would approve. Chaos Warp, renamed Chaos Theory for a Secret Lair card themed around the Jurassic Park chaotician, carries one of his famous lines as flavor text, his explanation of the butterfly effect, where a single flap of a butterfly's wings on one side of the world changes the weather on the other. It is hard to imagine a better match for a card whose whole identity is unpredictable consequences.
For three mana at instant speed, it makes the owner of any target permanent shuffle it into their library, then reveal the top card; if that card is a permanent card, it goes straight onto the battlefield. That gives red a rare clean answer to enchantments, artifacts, planeswalkers and anything else causing trouble, with a gamble attached that keeps every cast exciting, and Commander players have long treated it as a go-to red removal spell. This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 741★, a borderless bonus card illustrated by Zack Stella, offered here in rainbow foil, the finish used for the foil version of this printing. Slot it beside the other Malcolm-themed Secret Lair cards, or just let it shuffle away an opponent's best permanent while you quote the movie.
