Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. The photos are of this exact copy — look them over closely for its condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Harmony of Dissonance answered its predecessor's biggest complaint in the most dramatic way possible: it turned the lights on. Circle of the Moon had been notoriously hard to see on the unlit Game Boy Advance screen, so Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, the team behind Symphony of the Night, with Koji Igarashi producing, painted this sequel in vivid, saturated color. Its large, smoothly animated hero trails a ghostly afterimage with every step, and the castle's halls glow with stained glass, marble and moonlight. On a handheld in 2002, it was a showpiece.
The story jumps ahead fifty years from Simon Belmont's battle with Dracula. Simon's grandson, Juste Belmont, sets out to find his childhood friend Lydie Erlanger, who has vanished, alongside his oldest friend Maxim Kischine, who has returned from a long journey wounded and unable to remember what happened to him. Their search leads into a castle that should not exist, and the deeper Juste goes, the more it becomes clear that something is wrong with the place itself, and with Maxim. Hunting down the scattered relics of Dracula is the key to the full truth, and the game rewards the players who track every one of them down.
Juste plays faster than Nathan ever did. The shoulder buttons fire off quick dashes forward and backward, so dodging through enemy attacks and darting past projectiles quickly becomes second nature. The signature system here is Spell Fusion: equip one of five elemental spell books and pair it with a classic sub-weapon like the axe or holy water, and the result is a new spell that can fill the screen with flame, ice or lightning. Exploration is generous, with relics that unlock new routes, hidden rooms tucked behind breakable walls, and furniture to collect for an empty room in the castle that you gradually decorate. The soundtrack's thin, synth-heavy sound is the one element fans still argue about, but the compositions themselves have plenty of drive.
Harmony of Dissonance is the middle chapter of the Game Boy Advance trilogy, and it is the entry that leans hardest into Symphony of the Night's ideas, right down to a second, parallel version of the castle waiting to be discovered. Beat it and a Boss Rush mode opens up, along with a chance to replay the adventure as Maxim himself. It is the first time Konami's own Symphony team reshaped its formula for a handheld, and the bridge that leads straight into Aria of Sorrow.
Nearly fifty years has past since Simon Belmont rescued the land from the curse of Dracula. Now, Simon's descendant Juste Belmont, must acquire the relics of Dracula to unravel the disappearance of his childhood friend Lydie. The castle's enchanting mysteries and danger await all those who dare enter.
