Item Description

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is one of the most generous packages Konami ever put together for the series. At its heart is a full remake of Rondo of Blood, the 1993 PC Engine CD classic that Western players spent years only reading about. The remake keeps the original's branching stage structure, hidden routes and captives waiting to be rescued across more than ten gothic stages, then rebuilds it all with polygonal visuals, new music and enhanced gameplay, reimagining the game rather than replacing it.

Hidden inside the remake are two more games. Search its stages carefully and you can unlock the original Rondo of Blood in its authentic PC Engine form, plus Symphony of the Night, the game that turned Castlevania into an exploration epic, here with a re-translated script and newly recorded voice work. That puts the whole Dracula X storyline, from Richter Belmont's rescue mission to Alucard's journey through Dracula's castle, in a single PSP release.

Richter plays with the whip-and-subweapon precision that defined the pre-Metroidvania era: deliberate, demanding and deeply satisfying. Rescue Maria Renard and she becomes playable, with a nimbler, completely different style that makes familiar stages feel new, and she joins the roster in Symphony of the Night here as well. Returning to cleared stages turns up secrets you missed the first time, and a Boss Rush mode serves up the remake's toughest fights back to back.

For years, Rondo of Blood was the famous Castlevania most fans had never played, and Symphony of the Night was tied to the original PlayStation. The Dracula X Chronicles brought both together, added a lavish remake on top and made the saga portable. If you want the Richter and Alucard chapters of Castlevania in one place, this is the release built for exactly that.
