Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original. Original inserts or paperwork shown in the photos are included; display stands and other photography props are not. The photos are of this exact cartridge — look them over closely for its condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Richter Belmont's first trip to Dracula's castle had been a Japanese exclusive, locked away on the PC Engine's CD format in Rondo of Blood. Castlevania: Dracula X was how most Western players finally got to take up his whip. Released for the Super Nintendo in September 1995, it is not a straight port but a cartridge-sized reimagining that borrows Rondo's look, story and hero while building new stages around them, and it has earned a reputation all its own as a stern, demanding test of Castlevania skill.
The setup is pure gothic melodrama. Centuries after Simon Belmont sealed Dracula away, a few depraved followers revive the Count, who strikes at the Belmont line by kidnapping Richter's love, Annet, and her young sister Maria. Richter takes up the family whip and storms the castle. Combat is classic Castlevania, deliberate and unforgiving, with Richter's backflip and his item crashes, screen-filling super versions of his sub-weapons, giving him tools earlier Belmonts never had. Precise jumps matter, and the final duel with Dracula, fought on narrow platforms above a bottomless drop, is still infamous for good reason.
Branching paths run through the stages, hiding alternate routes and the captive girls, and your choices decide which of three endings you earn: rescue both Annet and Maria, only Maria, or neither. A password system tracks progress. The music, by a team including Tomoya Tomita, draws on the series' grand, driving gothic style, and the bright, detailed sprite work has aged gracefully.
Critics in 1995 were split, many measuring it against Rondo and finding it short of that masterpiece, yet IGN's later retrospective called it still one of the best traditional Castlevania games, and many longtime fans agree it is a hard, satisfying test of whip-and-sub-weapon skill. As the Super Nintendo's only Richter Belmont adventure, and the second and last Castlevania on the system after Super Castlevania IV, it is a key piece of any Castlevania shelf on original hardware.
The Legend Returns... Rising up from his eternal sleep, Count Dracula is back again to battle the descendants of the great vampire-stalking Belmont family of the Castlevania series. He has summoned his dark minions-Cerberus, Minaurus, and the Salamander-to bring a reign of terror on the land. Grab your whip and try to defeat these dark forces in this new conversion of the hit Japanese game: DRACULA X. The 7+ stages unfold with myriad possibilities depending on the choices you make during the game. This multi-ending, multi-story feature takes you through many levels of adventure. You must strategically use magical tomes, mystical power-ups and titanic weapons to defeat the horrifying bosses and discover secret bonus levels.
