Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Bold black linework, flat color and a vampire who looks ready to be inked onto a forearm: the Full Sleeves: The Tattoo Pack version of Blood Artist turns a favorite sacrifice engine into flash art. Joshua Howard drew the card in classic tattoo style for Secret Lair's 2020 Summer Superdrop, and it stands out in any deck that runs it.
The card has earned its reputation the hard way. Whenever Blood Artist or any other creature dies, yours or an opponent's, target player loses 1 life and you gain 1 life. On its own that is modest. In an aristocrats deck with a free sacrifice outlet, token makers and recursion, it turns every chump block, board wipe and sacrificed Zombie into reach. A single sweeper on a crowded Commander board can swing the game by a dozen points or more.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 42, illustrated by Joshua Howard, in non-foil. The flavor text keeps the original's wicked sense of humor: "Great art requires pain... but not necessarily the artist's." It is a black two-drop that rewards every death on the battlefield, dressed in art that looks as good in a binder as on the table.
