Item Description

Rapid Spin is the reason to look twice at this Blastoise-EX. For just two Colorless Energy, the 180 HP Water-type deals 30 damage, switches itself with one of your Benched Pokémon, and then makes your opponent switch their Active Pokémon with one of their Benched Pokémon. It's a slick tempo play that pulls Blastoise out of harm's way and drags something your opponent wasn't ready to use into the line of fire.

When it's time to hit hard, Splash Bomb swings for 120 damage for three Water Energy, with the catch that a tails flip means Blastoise does 30 damage to itself. That risk-for-reward cannon blast suits the shell-armored Pokémon perfectly, and alongside Rapid Spin it gives the card a fun push-and-pull rhythm on the table.

This is the XY Black Star Promo Blastoise-EX, card number XY30, a foil promo illustrated by Eske Yoshinob. XY Promos were released outside the main XY booster sets, which makes this one a natural target for Blastoise collectors and XY Promos set builders.
