Item Description

Date Masamune charges in with six swords, Sanada Yukimura answers with twin flaming spears, and the rivalry that defines Sengoku Basara erupts all over again. Sengoku Basara: Chronicle Heroes is Capcom's 2011 PSP sequel to Sengoku Basara: Battle Heroes, a Japan-exclusive spin-off that turns the series' larger-than-life warlords loose in fast, flashy team battles.

Sengoku Basara is Capcom's wildly stylized take on Japan's Warring States period, where real historical figures become anime-styled superheroes with outrageous weapons and even more outrageous personalities. The series became a phenomenon in Japan, spawning anime, stage plays and a passionate fanbase, and Chronicle Heroes gathers a big slice of its cast: around 32 generals, including Takeda Shingen, Uesugi Kenshin, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the free-spirited Maeda Keiji and the married pair Azai Nagamasa and Oichi. Characters introduced in Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes join in too, led by the vengeful Ishida Mitsunari and a revamped Tokugawa Ieyasu who has traded his spear for his fists.

Battles pit teams of two generals against each other, so choosing a partner whose style complements yours is half the strategy. New stages such as Tenmei Sekigahara join the lineup, and new aerial techniques let every general guard, deflect attacks and fire off ranged moves in midair. Friends could battle over local ad-hoc wireless, and players who owned Battle Heroes could import their save data. As an import, it is a colorful, over-the-top slice of a series many Western players only know from its Devil Kings and Samurai Heroes releases, and a standout piece for anyone building a Japanese PSP library.
