Item Description

Azami, Lady of Scrolls turns a table full of Wizards into a library. For five blue mana you get a 0/2 legend with one simple ability: tap an untapped Wizard you control to draw a card. Azami is a Wizard herself, so she can always cash in her own tap, and every other Wizard on your side becomes a card waiting to be drawn.

The detail that makes her sing is that tapping is a cost of Azami's ability rather than of the Wizard itself, so freshly cast Wizards can be tapped the same turn they arrive. A Wizard deck can flood the board and immediately convert it into cards, then hold up counterspells with a full grip. She first appeared in Champions of Kamigawa and is a long-standing pick to lead Wizard decks in Commander, where draw-go control and tribal synergies keep her supplied. Her zero power means she wants to stay home and work, which suits a blue control player perfectly.

This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 1106, a borderless foil illustrated by Jack Hughes. Its new flavor text gives the Kamigawa scholar a fashionable attitude: "Fashion belongs to those with the luxuries of style and taste. I have both."
