Item Description
Arcane Denial might be the friendliest counterspell in Magic, at least on the surface. For two mana it counters any spell, then lets that spell's controller draw up to two cards at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep, while you draw one of your own.
That generosity is the trick. In multiplayer Commander, the player you counter gets cards back and has less reason to hold a grudge, while you replace the Denial almost immediately and still stop the spell that mattered. Its cost of one blue and one generic mana makes it easy to cast in multicolor decks, and an instant-speed answer to anything, from a game-ending sorcery to an opposing commander, is exactly what a control player wants to keep open. The cards you hand over matter far less than the spell that never resolved.
