Item Description

Walls were never supposed to win games. Arcades, the Strategist changes that. Every creature you control with defender assigns combat damage equal to its toughness instead of its power and can attack as though it didn't have defender, so a 0/4 Wall of Omens or Wall of Blossoms suddenly swings for four.

It also refills your hand: whenever a creature with defender enters under your control, you draw a card. That turns a defensive Bant deck into a value engine that blocks well early, draws steadily, then flips to offense once Arcades lands. On its own, Arcades is a 3/5 flier with vigilance for four mana, sturdy enough to attack and still hold the fort. Defender decks in Commander have rallied around it since it debuted as one of the Elder Dragons of Core Set 2019.

This is the Time Spiral Remastered retro-frame printing, collector number 371, illustrated by Even Amundsen, in non-foil. It belongs to the set's bonus sheet of timeshifted cards, which present newer designs in the classic pre-2003 frame, a fun clash of modern mechanics and old-school look.
