Item Description
Long before Pokémon, there were anomalocaridids: segmented, claw-armed hunters of the Cambrian seas. Anorith brings that ancient predator into the Hoenn region as the Pokémon revived from the Claw Fossil, the first step toward the armored Armaldo, and it gave Generation III players a real sense of deep time hiding inside a pocket monster.
Atsuko Nishida illustrated this EX Legend Maker card, a 70 HP Fighting Stage 1 that evolves from Claw Fossil. Its first attack, Influence, costs a single Colorless Energy and searches your deck for up to two fossil Pokémon from among Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Lileep and Anorith, putting them on your Bench as if they were Basic Pokémon. One card assembles a prehistoric squad from two regions, a charming bit of design for fossil-themed decks. Stretch Claws adds 20 damage to an opponent's Benched Pokémon when Anorith has React Energy attached.
This is the EX Legend Maker printing, collector number 29/92, an uncommon offered here in foil. Legend Maker arrived in 2006 near the end of the EX era, a stretch of the TCG that collectors keep revisiting for its art and its offbeat mechanics.
