Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. The case is the Nintendo Selects release. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Nearly four years after Animal Crossing: New Leaf made you mayor, Nintendo reopened the town gates with an update so generous it was released as a standalone game. Welcome amiibo carves a campground into the cliffs at the edge of town, hands it to a laid-back new character named Harvey, and parks a fresh RV there every day with a special visitor inside. Suddenly a town you thought you knew inside and out has a reason for daily surprise again.

The headline feature is amiibo. Scan an Animal Crossing card or figure, and the friendly ghost Wisp transforms into that villager, who sets up camp and can be invited to move in. That opened the door to 50 villagers from the series' first-generation games, thirteen of whom had previously appeared only in Japan's Doubutsu no Mori e+, plus crossover guests that feel like fan service from across Nintendo: Splatoon amiibo bring Inkwell and themed gear, Legend of Zelda amiibo summon visitors such as Medli, Ganon and Epona, and Monster Hunter Stories adds Felyne. Daily town initiatives, like donating fish or planting trees, earn MEOW Coupons that buy rare items at the campground.

Plenty of the additions are the kind long-time players had been wishing for. A Secret Storeroom expansion holds up to 360 more items, Lottie arrives from Happy Home Designer to teach touchscreen furniture arranging, and clothes can finally hang on your walls as decoration. Two new minigames live inside furniture: Animal Crossing Puzzle League plays on an in-game 3DS XL, and Desert Island Escape, a survival challenge, runs on an in-game Wii U. You can even pose your villagers inside photos taken with the 3DS camera, and players starting over can sell their old town to Tom Nook to fund a fresh one.

Underneath it all is the complete New Leaf experience: public works, ordinances, Isabelle at town hall, Main Street, seasons and holidays that follow the real calendar. In North America the standalone retail game was released under the red Nintendo Selects banner, Nintendo's line of value-priced reissues of its proven hits. However you come to it, this is the fullest version of the 3DS's signature life sim, with years of extra ideas folded into a town that already ran on charm.
