Item Description

Analogue says the five colors in its Prototype Editions of the Analogue 3D were officially prototyped and manufactured for the Nintendo 64, then never released. The company spent more than a year color-matching those shells, and Glacier is one of the set, alongside Extreme Green, Atomic Purple, Ocean and Ghost. It is the closest most of us will get to owning an N64 color that stayed behind closed doors in the nineties, finished decades later as a translucent console built for today's televisions.

The engineering underneath matches the standard Analogue 3D. An Intel Cyclone 10 GX FPGA recreates the Nintendo 64 at the hardware level rather than emulating it in software, so original cartridges from any region play on their own terms, with HDMI output at up to 4K. Four original-style controller ports accept classic controllers along with the Rumble Pak, Controller Pak and Transfer Pak, and Bluetooth covers wireless options like the 8BitDo 64 controller.

Analogue's 3DOS ties it together, managing your game library, screenshots and saves, with dual-band Wi-Fi for over-the-air firmware updates. Original Display Modes add CRT, PVM and broadcast-monitor looks, so the chunky polygons of the late nineties can appear the way they did on a tube TV, only sharper. Reviewers came away impressed, with Time Extension and Wired each scoring the console 9 out of 10.

Glacier also comes with a ready-made theme night. Slot in Wave Race 64 or 1080° Snowboarding, or climb Cool, Cool Mountain in Super Mario 64, and the icy shell and the games on screen feel like a matched set. For N64 collectors, a lost prototype color finally made real on premium FPGA hardware is a conversation piece with serious playing power behind it.
