Item Description
Nobody forgets the first time they saw Alolan Exeggutor. Pokémon Sun and Moon took a sleepy palm-tree Pokémon, stretched its neck into the stratosphere and made it a Dragon, and fans have adored the joke ever since. Surging Sparks gives it the full ex treatment: a 300 HP Stage 1 that evolves from Exeggcute and hits far harder than its goofy grin suggests.
Its first attack, Tropical Frenzy, deals 150 damage and lets you attach any number of Basic Energy cards from your hand to your Pokémon in any way you like, turning one swing into a burst of setup for your whole board. Swinging Sphene is pure tropical chaos: flip a coin, and heads Knocks Out your opponent's Active Basic Pokémon, while tails Knocks Out one of their Benched Basic Pokémon instead. As long as there's a Basic on their side, something is leaving the table, which makes it a fun, swingy answer to decks that lean on fragile Basic attackers.
This is the Hyper Rare printing, 248/191, numbered past the set's main run and illustrated by aky CG Works, part of the gold-treated top tier of Surging Sparks pulls. A golden palm tree with this much attitude makes a memorable centerpiece for an Alola binder.
