Item Description
Every Commander table has that player who casts a draw-three, spins a wheel or leans on a card-advantage engine to refill a full grip. Alms Collector is the tax man who shows up at exactly that moment. Whenever an opponent would draw two or more cards, that draw is replaced: they get one card, and so do you. Their big refuel turn becomes an even trade.
The body is just as useful. It is a four-mana 3/4 Cat Cleric with flash, so you can hold mana open, wait for someone to commit to a big draw spell and drop it in response, or simply flash it in at the end of a turn as a sturdy surprise blocker. White decks that tend to fall behind on cards get a quiet way to stay in the race, and Cat tribal builds get a creature that pulls real weight.
This is the Commander 2017 printing, collector number 1, illustrated by Bram Sels, in non-foil, from the year the Commander decks were built around Cats, Dragons, Vampires and Wizards. Its flavor text sums up the card's philosophy: "There is no justice when some profit and others go without."
