Item Description

A planeswalker with two plus abilities and no minus short of its ultimate is a planeswalker that only grows, and Ajani, Mentor of Heroes uses that freedom well. One +1 spreads three +1/+1 counters among up to three creatures you control. The other +1 looks at the top four cards of your library and lets you take an Aura, creature or planeswalker card into your hand, sending the rest to the bottom in any order.

That choice every turn is what makes him so pleasant to play in green-white Commander decks. Behind a board of creatures, he grows threats and feeds counter synergies like Hardened Scales or proliferate. On an empty board, he digs for the next creature or Aura so you never run out of gas. Let his loyalty climb high enough and the −8 gains you 100 life, a number that ends most conversations about racing.

This is the Secret Lair Drop printing from the Li'l Walkers drop of the February 2022 Superdrop, collector number 397, a borderless card illustrated by Uta Natsume, offered here in foil. The drop shrank planeswalkers into pint-sized portraits, and the borderless frame gives Natsume's art the whole card to play with.
