Complete in box: the game disc and its original case, with any printed inserts shown in the photos. The case and artwork show minimal shelf wear. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Discs are professionally resurfaced when they need it and tested before listing. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

The victims all turn up the same way, left eyes missing, and Special Agent Kaname Date has a personal stake in the case: his own left eye is an artificial replacement housing Aiba, a sharp-tongued AI partner who can zoom, scan and see through walls. That odd-couple setup drives AI: The Somnium Files, the 2019 detective thriller from Spike Chunsoft and writer-director Kotaro Uchikoshi, the mind behind the Zero Escape series.

Investigations play out in two halves. In the real world you work crime scenes around Tokyo and question suspects with Aiba's help. Then Date plugs into a suspect's or witness's dreams through a machine called the Psync, entering surreal Somnium worlds where you have just six minutes to break through their mental locks. Every action burns time, so picking what to poke, kick or talk to becomes a puzzle of its own, and the choices you make there split the story into branches that you will want to chase down one by one.

Uchikoshi's trademark is a mystery that pays off only when you have seen every route, and this one is built the same way, with goofy humor and unsettling twists sitting side by side. Yusuke Kozaki's character designs give the cast plenty of personality, and the game found a big enough audience to earn a sequel, nirvanA Initiative, in 2022. On PlayStation 4 it is a standout pick for players who loved 999 or Danganronpa and want a case they will still be thinking about after the credits.
