Item Description

Accounting+ starts as a dull office simulation and ends somewhere far stranger. You put on a virtual reality headset inside the game, and that headset drops you into another world, which hides another headset, which leads somewhere even worse. The result is one of the strangest comedies on PlayStation VR, and it was built specifically for the headset.

It comes from an unlikely pairing: Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty, and William Pugh, co-creator of The Stanley Parable, working through Crows Crows Crows and Squanch Games. Accounting first appeared on SteamVR in 2016, and Accounting+ expanded it for its PlayStation VR debut in December 2017 with new material, including a tutorial narrated by the soft-spoken Clovis. There is barely a game here in the traditional sense. You grab, poke and provoke, and the world yells back: a foul-mouthed creature living in a tree, tiny public defenders trying to argue your innocence in court, a getaway spent blasting pursuing police cars with a seed gun, and a pair of chatty skulls begging you to play a xylophone made of bones. A hidden level rewards poking around.

It is short enough to finish in a single sitting, but it is the kind of experience people hand the headset to their friends to see. Expect crude humor and constant swearing. Limited Run Games later gave the game a physical release, and the Best Buy Edition is the version that was sold through Best Buy stores, a way to own this oddity on disc.
