Item Description

In August 2024 in Honolulu, Fernando Cifuentes won the Masters Division at the Pokémon World Championships, becoming the first World Champion from Chile, and he did it with one of the boldest lists in the field. Crushing Thorn is that deck, reproduced for collectors and players who want to see how a world title was built.

The plan is pure disruption. The deck runs just four Pokémon, all copies of Iron Thorns ex, and leans on a hulking 230-HP attacker while Crushing Hammer strips the opponent’s Energy and Lost City sends knocked-out Pokémon to the Lost Zone. It is a coin-flip-heavy, Trainer-driven style that frustrates opponents, and seeing a list this lean take the biggest prize in the game is a real lesson in how far a focused strategy can go.

The World Championship Deck series prints top finishers’ lists with special card backs that are not legal for sanctioned play, which is exactly what makes them collectible: each one is a snapshot of a particular format and a particular player’s answer to it. A sealed Crushing Thorn is a piece of Pokémon TCG history, a champion’s run captured in cardboard.
