The photos are our own, taken from our stock of this game — look them over for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Doctor Doom has built a weapon with a name only a LEGO game could get away with: the Doom Ray of Doom, powered by Cosmic Bricks broken from the Silver Surfer's board. With Loki pulling strings in the background and a different supervillain heading up each chapter, it falls to Marvel's heroes to reach the bricks first, and Universe in Peril turns that race into a brisk, bite-sized handheld adventure from TT Fusion.

This is not a shrunken copy of the console game. Like the 3DS version that shares its design, it trades the big-screen release's open-world Manhattan for isometric, mostly linear stages: fifteen story chapters, each split into three short sections that build to a boss battle. You switch between a rotating lineup of heroes as you go, using each one's powers to beat down enemies and crack the light puzzles, and Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America and the Hulk all get their moments. Side paths hide studs and secrets, with plenty of LEGO scenery to smash along the way.

Every stage carries a set of challenges, from collecting enough studs to rescuing civilians or finishing without switching characters, and the Gold Bricks they earn are what unlock further story stages, so there is a real reason to go back and play cleaner. Studs buy new characters and attacks between missions, and the three-part chapter structure makes it easy to jump straight back into the section you want to replay. TT Fusion designed this edition portable-first, building it for mobile devices and handhelds rather than cutting down the console game, and the pacing shows it.

Short levels and a pick-up-and-play rhythm make it a natural match for the Vita, ideal for ten minutes of smashing studs out of the Marvel Universe on a lunch break. It is a lighter, more compact cousin of the big-screen LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, with its own level designs and its own personality, and a fun find for a shelf of Vita LEGO adventures or Marvel games.
